Lead Columns
For Carbohydrate Analysis
The BP-100, Pb column is packed with a 9µ styrene-divinylbenzene polymer resin in the lead form. Complex sugars are often used to add distinctive tastes to foods and beverages. Pentoses and hexoses found in cellulose products are well separated especially glucose, xylose, galactose, cellobiose, arabinose and mannose. These lead columns are quite useful for the separation of xylose, galactose and mannose which are not completely resolved on the calcium column. In addition, the lead columns resolve sucrose and lactose well if these two sugars are present in excess in some samples.
